Essay Outline Generator with Word Count Targets
Enter your thesis, your supporting points and your assigned word count. The tool returns a paragraph by paragraph outline with a word target for each section, a topic sentence prompt, an evidence slot and a link back to the thesis. It structures your argument, it does not write it.
How to use it
- 01. Write your thesis as one arguable sentence. If nobody could disagree with it, revise it first.
- 02. List one supporting point per line. Three to six points suit most college essays.
- 03. Set your assigned word count so the tool can size each paragraph.
- 04. Choose the essay type so the evidence prompts match your assignment.
- 05. Copy the outline into your document and write straight into it, one paragraph at a time.

How do I outline an essay?+
Start from your thesis, then give each body paragraph one supporting claim, its evidence and its link back to the thesis. The outline is finished when every paragraph has all three.
How many body paragraphs should an essay have?+
Divide your word count by about 180. A 1,500 word essay usually needs five to seven body paragraphs, plus an introduction and conclusion.
How long should each paragraph be?+
Roughly 150 to 200 words in US college writing. Shorter and the evidence is thin, longer and the paragraph is usually doing two jobs.
What goes in the introduction?+
Context, the narrowing problem, and the thesis statement as the final sentence. Aim for about 10 percent of your total word count.
Does this tool write the essay for me?+
No. It builds the structure and word targets. The argument and the writing stay yours, which is what your academic integrity policy expects.
Can I use it for a research paper?+
Yes. Choose the argumentative structure and add a literature section as one of your points, or use it to plan a chapter at a time.
